The global BRAC family was deeply saddened by the passing of our dear friend Dr. Richard Cash. A true force for progress in global health, Dr. Cash was an emeritus Board member of BRAC USA, and a long-serving partner in BRAC’s mission. He passed away on October 22, 2024 in Boston. Dr. Cash’s passing is a colossal loss for the BRAC family, but his deep commitment to making health care accessible for all will live on through the millions of lives he has helped save. Here, we share a collection of beautiful tributes in memory of Richard’s incredible life.

The endowed chair at James P Grant School of Public Health, BRAC University, will drive groundbreaking research, foster interdisciplinary collaboration, and shape future public health leaders as they address the critical challenges of infectious diseases. Dr. Cash was a cherished Adjunct Professor at the School for over 20 years. He left an indelible mark on his students, faculty, and global health initiatives. His contributions shaped the Master of Public Health program and strengthened Bangladesh’s healthcare system.
A $1.1m Endowment will translate to a sustainable, full-time chair of Infectious Disease. Your gift today will allow the School, for the first time, to recruit a permanent faculty member with expertise in infectious disease. Amid huge public health needs in Bangladesh, regionally and globally, this dedicated faculty member will have the freedom to focus on innovative teaching, capacity building, and impactful research, making significant contributions to public health.
