Our bold new campaign: $1 million for Extraordinary Women

On End Poverty Day, BRAC leaders spoke about the challenges — and hope — that lie ahead in the fight against poverty, and unveiled a powerful new campaign.

A graphic with a pink backdrop and headshots of five Extraordinary Women who are BRAC participants from a variety of countries reads "LET'S RAISE $1 MILLION FOR EXTRAORDINARY WOMEN."

Today is International Day for the Eradication of Poverty, also known as End Poverty Day, and we just wrapped up a special livestream with BRAC USA CEO, Julia Roberts.

Rozina Haque, Associate Director of BRAC’s flagship Ultra-Poor Graduation program, called in from Nairobi. She shared what BRAC has learned about unmaking poverty over the past 50 years. If you missed the live event, watch the replay below.

Julia also unveiled BRAC’s bold new campaign to raise $1 million for Extraordinary Women before the end of 2024. It can feel out of reach to tackle extreme poverty, which runs deep and affects 700 million people. But we have met countless determined women who have achieved their dreams and uplifted their families… and we can’t wait to introduce you to them!

Over the next few weeks, you’ll hear the stories of five Extraordinary Women. They are resilient, ambitious, and creative. They have overcome seemingly impossible situations with cleverness and determination. We think you’ll find them extraordinary, too.

Learn more about the campaign and follow along as we share stories of Extraordinary Women.

Raising $1 million by December 31st is an audacious goal: But in order to end poverty, we need to take audacious steps. And our most dedicated supporters feel the same way. That’s why we’re thrilled to announce that a group of generous donors have already pledged $150,000 in gifts to jumpstart our campaign.

We hope you’ll consider joining them. Your gift will provide services and aid to Extraordinary Women and families living in some of the world’s most vulnerable situations. You can provide them with the tools, skills, funds, and opportunities they need to lift themselves from poverty.

Thank you for believing in the power of women to change the world.
