Meet Jeneba, a BRAC Microfinance credit officer in Sierra Leone. As a young child, Jeneba told her mother that she wanted to go to school. But her mother replied, “I don’t have any money. You will not go.” Those words broke Jeneba’s heart. She saw her mother struggling to take care of her younger siblings and put food on the table. Jeneba knew that with an education, she could help her mother. Determined to find a way, she got herself into school and eventually graduated from university.Today, Jeneba works to ensure that no other child has to hear those same words from their parents.
